What is No Claim Discount (NCD)?
The No Claim Discount (NCD) is a reward scheme received by motor policy holders for not making a claim during the preceding 12 months.
How much of No Claim Discount (NCD) am I entitled to?
Consumers are eligible for NCD ranging from 0% to 55% of the premium payable depending on the type of vehicle, coverage and number of years claim not intimated. For a private car, the scale of NCD ranges from 0% to 55% as provided in the policy/certificate whereas for motorcycles and commercial vehicles, it ranges from 0% to 25%.

Pet Insurance In Malaysia

By insuring your pet’s health, pet insurance can provide you a piece of mind, knowing that no matter what may happen, you will be afford the health care.
Investing in pet insurance is a personal decision that should be based on your financial situation. No one can answer if buying pet insurance is a necessity for you or not as there are many factors to be considered, including breed and age of your pet, lifestyle of your pet (indoor or outdoor) and your pet’s past health experience. However, if you think you would find yourself in a position where your pet care cost would be impossible for you to come up with in an emergency, then you should consider investing in pet insurance.
Pet insurance is a real thing you can get in Malaysia – MSIG Malaysia recently introduced pet insurance and this good news excites most of us! Although pet insurance is common in other countries, it is a relatively new offering in Malaysia. Here at ACP Group of Companies (ACPG), we would like to highlight few things you should know about pet insurance.
MSIG offers a wide coverage in their plans for a reasonable price. Like most pet insurance companies, MSIG will cover the following: veterinary fee, surgical fee and death from injury or illness and third party liability. Burial or cremation costs, costs for recovery of missing pet and boarding fees for pet are also covered – they are great plus points!
No one likes surprises when making a pet insurance claim. Thus, you should check out the pet insurance exclusions and its policy wording.
Like human health insurance, most of pet insurance companies do not cover pre-existing conditions, including MSIG pet insurance. Typically, a pre-existing condition is defined as any illness or injury that your pet had before you purchased the policy. However, each insurance company’s definition of a pre-existing condition may vary, so it’s very important to read a sample policy or ask a company representative prior to purchasing an insurance policy. According to MSIG’s Policy Wording, pre-existing condition is any condition, sign or symptom occurring or existing in any form, or complication directly resulting from or relating to that condition prior to the period of insurance.
Apart from this, there are other exclusions, including routine and preventative treatments, war and related risks, an event that occurred outside Malaysia and others.
Eligibility
Is your pet eligible for pet insurance? This is another thing to look out for when buying pet insurance. According to MSIG’s Policy Wording, there are few eligibility requirements:
1.Your pet must be a cat or a dog
2.Microchipped
3.Duly licensed
4.Not under banned or restricted breeds by the Government or Public or Local Authority (Check here)
5.Aged between 12 weeks to 9 years
6.Not be a working pet (Working pet is defined as "any pet involved in activities other than companionship or helping but not limited to racing, breeding, law enforcement, guarding or other commercial use)
7.Be free from injury or physical disability at the commencement date of this policy
At the same time, the policy holder must be 18 years or older and be the owner of the pet. Keep in mind that pet insurance for older dogs and cats is harder to find. This is because an older pet is more likely to require treatment, according to Money Advice Service. And this is why most of pet insurance companies have age restrictions when you enroll in a plan.
Have your cat or dog microchipped too. The cost to have a microchip implanted by a veterinarian is around RM 45 – RM 70. You can visit the nearest vet and get your pet microchipped. Most of the vets have the licence to microchip your pet.

WHAT IT COVERS
VETERINARY & SURGICAL BENEFIT
When the insured pet is met with injuries and illnesses, this insurance will cover relevant veterinary bills up to RM 5000.00 for the highest plan. If surgery is involved, it will also cover post-surgical treatments of up to 60 days from day of surgery.
DEATH BENEFIT
When the insured pet suffers death, or being put to sleep following accidental injury or illness, this insurance will reimburse you, the pet owner, the purchase price or adoption fee up to RM 5,000.00 for the highest plan.
BURIAL OR CREMATION BENEFIT
When the insured pet suffers an unfortunate death, this insurance will reimburse the burial or cremation costs of the insured pet up to RM 1,000.00.
ADVERTISING AND REWARD FOR MISSING PET RECOVERY
When the insured pet goes missing, this insurance will reimburse the cost of advertising and reward cost up to RM 1000.00 to find the missing insured pet.
BOARDING KENNEL & CATTERY FEES
When you, the pet owner is hospitalized for more than 3 days, this insurance will reimburse the boarding kennel or cattery fees up to RM 2500.00 (highest plan) for your insured pet whilst you recover.
THIRD PARTY LIABILITY
When your insured pet causes accidental bodily injury to others or damage to property belonging to third parties, this insurance will cover all legal costs and expenses incurred up to RM 100,000.00 for the highest plan.

Non-Malaysians can also purchase this policy. However, a pet is covered under this policy only while the pet is in Malaysia.
CHECK IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS POLICY
You must be at least 18 years old, be an owner of the insured pet, and your pet must reside permanently with you at your registered address through the life of the policy.

HOW TO CLAIM
GATHER THE RIGHT DOCUMENTS
You must write a notice of a possible claim to ACPG and MSIG using or no later within 7 days of accident causing injury to the insured pet.
To claim anything, MSIG would require black & white proofs of bills. Hence, the insured person of the beneficiary will have to gather the right documents as below:
- Report your claim to MSIG within 7 days from the day of incident.
- Upon sending the claim notification, you will receive email from MSIG containing a PDF claim notification form detailing documents needed for claim.
- MSIG will process your claim notification and get in touch with you within 7 working days to follow up on the claim.
- Complete the documents needed and gather information, evidence and supporting documents including receipts, medical certificates or medical reports which may be required by MSIG for claims processing.
- Provide your written consent to allow MSIG to receive the result of your insured pet’s medical examinations, tests, medical history or records.
- Veterinarian whom have cared for your insured pet must list pet’s microchip number in said supporting documents in Point 4.
- Submit all the necessary documents with the written consent to myMSIG@my.msig-asia.com.
- MSIG will process the documents and will proceed with the reimbursement within 5 working days.
